The Rideau Canal is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site! Visit before it gets crowded.

The World Heritage Committee of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, in Christchurch New Zealand, announced this decision on June 28th 2007.

Rideau Acres is located approximately 2 kilometers north of Kingston Mills, the southernmost locks on the canal. These locks have been meticulously maintained and remain top class examples of 19th century engineering. The campground enjoys almost 2 kilometers of frontage on this world class waterway.

Over the years, Rideau Acres has grown to meet the changing needs of vacationers. We cater to the largest of RVs and motor homes with level, fully serviced, pull-through campsites, right down to secluded spots for tenters who want to "get back to nature".

Don't have a trailer? We'll rent you one on site! (Rentals are by the week only in June/July/August). Our trailers are fitted with dishes, pots and pans, toaster, coffee maker, television and lawn chairs. We do ask that you bring your own bedding, sheets and blankets or sleeping bags.

Swim or relax by our heated pool or stroll along our mile of waterfront. Enjoy excellent fishing and boating or participate in our planned activities.

Pontoon boats, fishing boats, rowboats, canoes, and pedal boats are available for rental.

Start your camping season early this year, and enjoy our early season discounts.

We have received a lot of snow this winter, so I think there is not much frost in the ground. I expect this will help the grounds to firm up and may allow us to get water to some sites earlier than usual this year. Washrooms and laundry are open year round. Spring is a beautiful time of year to enjoy the outdoors and our campsite rates will be lower than in the summer.

We also have a few special charity events scheduled for early in 2008.

____________

On March 28th we will host a Fish Fry for Holy Name of Jesus Church. All funds raised go to their mission fund. Camping will be 50% off that weekend.

____________

On April 13th the Old Tyme Fiddlers will be entertaining in the hall.

____________

On April 19th Rideau Acres is donating the hall for the annual Neeje Dinner put on by that charitable organization. The Neeje Association is a non profit charitable organization founded in 1980. Its mission is to provide opportunities for women of all ages to seek human and professional development in their lives. The Abrams Brothers will entertain at this event. To find out more about Neeje call Jill Roussy at 819-770-3578. To learn more about the Abrams Brothers go to their website www.theabramsbrothers.ca.

Campers will enjoy a 25% discount that weekend and Rideau Acres will donate 15% of all camping receipts to Neeje.
